der gestiefele Kater

2026

The fairy tale tells the story of the poor miller’s daughter. Her brothers inherit a great deal, but from her father she receives only a cat. However, the cat is extremely clever and cunning, and he knows that, above all, a successful appearance in the world requires a good pair of boots. In addition, there must be a king who rules the land — one who has a clever daughter and a huge appetite for partridges, but no skilled hunters at his court. And finally, there needs to be a power-hungry sorcerer with vast estates and a magnificent castle who, despite all his magic, never considers how much cats love eating mice. In the end, the cat succeeds in everything, and the miller’s daughter can look forward to a happy and prosperous future. As for the cat, he will wear his boots for the rest of his life and serve as the kingdom’s first minister. This wonderfully witty new adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale is once again presented with plenty of music and numerous songs by Dominik Dittrich.
